4 dage Mt Kenya Climb, Chogoria Rute op og ud Sirimon rute

Beskrivelse

A most wonderful experience hiking Mt Kenya with Arch Treks and Safaris. James gave us a prompt, detailed, and packed itinerary, making it easy to choose from many options. He met us personally before and after to ensure all went well. We were led on the hike by the veritable Richard and Joseph, who set a solid pace and made sure we were hydrated, well-rested, and motivated. They showed us the awesome waterfalls, rivers, lakes, gorges, and peaks, and the variety of vegetation on the mountain. Daniel, the cook, treated us to delicious hot and wholesome meals, fueling us with positive energy. It was an absolute privilege to witness this ever-changing sacred landscape with such a warm and professional team! We followed it up with some safari adventure, but that's another story... Much Respect and Gratitude 🙏⛰️🏕️🌄🌍
James brings the whole experience to satisfying, educative and memorable time. What a passionate, professional aide
Thank You Shaddie for the Review. It was absolute Pleasure Having you as our Guest
Exceeded our expectations beyond what I can say. My partner and I wanted to conquer Point Lenanna (ultimately Bateson and Nelion but we could not find/figure out how…until on our hike to Lenanna). Our route took us from Chogoria to Sirimon, a forest road to the road up to Old Moses camp (fourth night). I preferred this route as towards the end I was needing any signs of civilization as my shoulders were very sore and after 7 hours of hiking. We love camping in Colorado’s (United States) wilderness and so we brought our own tent, gear, and food. We had said we could bring our own food and otherwise try a few dishes. Boy were we impressed. First of all, we don’t usually have 3 course meals, 3 times a day but our team of 5 made sure we were well fed (carrying all of it up the same route!!), with hot water/coffee/tea at every meal and afternoon. Then we were astounded by the accommodations. First night was at a group camp with running water and beds. Second night we realized they also brought up a tent for us to relax/eat in, AND another, 4 person tent to sleep in. The third night was another night in the tent, but it started pouring just as we got to Mintos. Luckily they already had the dining tent set up. Fourth night was at a group camp again. They negotiated/worked with our budget, and drove us to Narok for an extra USD100 per person. I will be finding a way in my budget to make room for their exceptional service.
I wasn’t going to post a review I was going to just let it go without one but after my husband & I began experiencing extreme GI issues 10hours after finishing our trip I felt travelers should be warned. Firstly, I believe this trip is built around people who have never hiked before. My husband & I hike extensively all over the world. We have been to 19,000ft & also to 14,000 peaks many times a year. Our guide struggled to keep up. The first 2 days we were far ahead of him, perhaps even a mile on the 2nd day. On the summit day it seemed like he was struggling a lot. Also when I have hired guides previously for big mountains they have an idea of the weather conditions. We could have summitted the day before since we arrived at camp very early & the weather was perfect. Instead he said we should summit the next day (an hour before sunrise) in the wind, rain, & no view. So even the time of the summit was off- we left far too early for sunrise. We ended up requesting to leave from the last camp a day early because the hygiene on the trek was so horrific. This was the one thing I am grateful for. Otherwise we would have been suffering these GI issues while trying to hike out on the road! Also as a note the first day of the trek is just a 6mi hike on a paved road where tourist vehicles pass u. This trek could easily be done in 2 days. Finally, the hygiene. It was horrific. The kitchens at the huts were horrendous. The last breakfast was supposed to be at a hut. It was instead a shack that I was told not to look in by our guide because I would “not want to see that.” So I can only imagine…but that’s where they were cooking our food!! So now we both suffer the consequences. My advice if u r set on this hike. Bring your own tent (the huts are very very dirty), sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove, fuel, AND food. Hire a guide only or maybe a guide & a porter. Cook & boil your own water & food!! Otherwise you will be having the same issues as my husband & I.
This trek was fully accommodated, porters, a chef and a guide. The trek itself was incredible and I highly recommend. James was wonderful at coordinating the trip and very accommodating with plan changing, budget, gear, and transportation. The team was wonderful as well. They all were working hard to ensure that I submitted and made it down safely. Archtrek made it easy to experience Mt. Kenya which is all I could have asked for. Thank you!
Thank you TJ for sharing your experience, we’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed your Mt. Kenya Climbing experience.
Beautiful scenery, slow and steady pace that allowed us to acclimate, friendly and knowledgeable guide, tasty and plentiful food. James, the owner, was super helpful in providing the gear we lacked to ensure our trek was a success.
The coach Mr James was so patient with me especially being a special person with a history of cancer. I'm a survivor of cervical cancer and Yes,I made it to the summit. Not once but twice. And to Kili in Tanzania too.
I would very much recommend Arch Treks & Safaris as a tour operator for the Mount Kenya hike. We did a 4-day hike (Chogoria up Sirimon down) which was organized perfectly. The communication and information up front, both on their website and from the owner James, was very clear and extensive. Our guide Samson was extremely knowledgeable, cared for us constantly and explained the day to day program well. Chef Charles spoiled us with tasty, nutritious and more than plenty of food. Moses and George were there to back us up and assist us in every way. The organization has many many years of experience which comes to expression in the way our hike was arranged. Simply a top notch service from Arch.

It was absolute pleasure to have Hosted you as our Clients. regards James - Arch Treks & Safaris
We had the most amazing 4-day trek to the top of Mt. Kenya with James and his team. The guides, porters, and cook who took us up and down the mountain were phenomenal, making it as comfortable for us as possible and providing tips and guidance along the way. I personally was very impacted by altitude sickness and our main guide attended to me, making sure I was okay, encouraging me, and changing our route slightly so I could get to lower altitude faster. He was monitoring me to make sure I was okay to get to the top, and at the end was with me every step of the way to ensure I could make it. James is one of the most patient, understanding, and personable people I've ever met. He went above and beyond to help transport some other family members on our way to the mountain by renting an bigger van for us. He also went out of his way to make sure we could drop our bags with family members in another town. And when we finished our trek he called his contacts and drove to multiple towns to help us find a covid test because my husband had a cough, offered to go to a supermarket to get supplies before the next leg of our trip, and bore with is when we changed our minds several times about where to be dropped off -- even helping to jumpstart someone's car along the way! Cannot thank you enough, James + Archtrek!
Excellent group of guys with decades of experience on the mountain--expert guides who can claim upwards of 100+ hikes to the highest peaks on the continent, who've mastered knowledge of the land, topography, plant life, and the history of such beautiful landscapes. James and his guys aim to help you finish well and they are some of the most upright, kind, lighthearted folks you'll meet. Samson, Charles, and Gitonga--grateful to have gone with such a team. Soli Deo Gloria!
