Our experience was wonderful and our guide Daniel was a excellent guide. Would do his tour again. Highly recommend this tour
Our guide Jennifer was absolutely the best. She kept our multi-generational group entertained as she told us of the history, culture, geography and wildlife of Ketchikan. I cannot imagine a way to improve our day with her.
Good time sightseeing. Thought we would do a little more off the beaten path nature sightseeing. Too much city sites. It was still fun
Our tour guide PJ was a great guide and very knowledgeable about all things Ketchikan and wildlife. The tour started off great with bald eagle sightings and a bear sighting, but then turned into a history of Ketchikan tour. It was interesting, just not what we thought we were signing up for. Based on other reviews we thought this was customizable so we let the guide know we were really interested in seeing bears. We started by seeing the eagles, exploring a beach at low tide, and then seeing a bear. After that it was just a car ride through Ketchikan and a few other stops. Not bad, just not what we thought we were signing up for.
We enjoyed it. Hanna had lots of energy and knowledge about the area and the marine life. We saw bear, eagles and marine animals.
Our group of seven loaded into Shad's private shuttle right on time just outside of our dock. TONS of information about the area on our way to our first stop, Whitman Lake Hatchery, where we were on the lookout for black bears. One made just a quick appearance in the distance, so we chose to move along to the next stop after request to return here for another opportunity. We drove a few more miles down the road to Rainbow Falls. Shad gave us the ins and outs of navigating the trail to the top of the falls, noting that "your shoes will get muddy". That was an understatement, but it was a fun, and sometimes challenging, short climb through the narrow, wet and muddy trail. Once we were back down, he directed us to the bottom of the falls where we filled our water bottles with clean water that had traveled from the top of the mountain. Shad also took the time to take group photos for us and we were never rushed. We returned to the Hatchery where we had front row seats to a black bear walking around right in front of us. There were eagles above and in the trees, deer in the distance and salmon traveling upstream. It was quite the "Wild Kingdom" moment, ha! After the bear show, we made a pit stop and then learned about totem poles. Our tour ended at Creek Street, and we were given loads of options for how to spend the rest of our day. Shad was a fantastic guide, so if you are considering this tour, just book it.
Daniel was great he knew the island and shoes us everything we wanted to see I highly recommend him to everybody’s going to Ketchikan.
We enjoyed exploring the tide pools and seeing the star fish and multiple crabs. Daniel made a point to search for these creatures. We also saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs. That was the highlight!
Had an amazing tour with our guide, Shad! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was super flexible with our itinerary, making sure to cater the tour to our interests. We were able to see eagles and even caught a glimpse of a bear! My group and I were very satisfied with the value and quality of the tour! Highly recommend!
They were not on time and were not immediately available on the phone however did call back a few minutes later. Seemed to have missed the booking but were responsive and organised someone to pick us up about 15-20 minutes later. Another thing- heritage centre visit was included but found out it was closed. Trip was short of 3 hours in the end because of the delay. The tour guide was pleasant and tried however not great value for money.
