Our guide Evon was wonderful. He took us to Lake Sandoval and we enjoyed it very much. I am not sure why we got to go there and some others did a 5 mi trek thru the jungle seeing very little but we were thrilled that Evan was our guide. Excellent english, funny and very knowledgeable.
The lodge is well maintained and clean. We were very impressed by our guide Eder, who could answer all questions and has an inexhaustible knowledge of the rainforest and its flora and fauna. He is very kind, humorous and speaks good German. However, he has a brisk step; where nothing can be seen right now, you have to be able to walk quickly. Excellent stay of 4 days, far from everything, lost in the forest. Very nice Welcoming, nice lodge and visit of fauna and flora with Victor, which is exceptional! No Wifi, no TV, just nature. Excellent food!
We are very happy to know that you have a great experience with us in the amazon. Thank you for trusting Cultural Immersion Best Regards.
Great service and great location. The lodge is located at the river Madre de Dios some km away from Puerto Maldonado. Full service as well as four trips into the jungle (for the 3 night stay) are included. Rubber boots are provided within the camp. Our guide (Walter) was very nice and found a lot of things we never discoverd without him. The food is realy good and a vegetarian option is availlable as well. The schedule is a little bit drilled and the groups for the excursions are sometimes a little bit too big. However the stay is recommended. Please do not forgot a mosquito repellent, you'll need it.
Dear Stefan, Thanks for the review about the lodge we booked for you. Thanks also for the advises for other travellers. We're glad that you had a good experience there, Cheers
Our tour guide on shore, Percy, picked us up from the airport with tour bus, explained our schedule for the next 2 days on our way to the travel office. We stopped by the local market to get some supply and experience the local culture. Our guide gave us about 30 minutes of walk around the market by ourselves. In the travel office, Percy made a copy of our return flight reservation so he can web-check our flight. We took a one hour boat ride on the Amazon river to the resort; the ride is smooth and nice to get some cool breeze in the So. America humid heat weather. Because it is a low season when we arrived, we were able to get 2 bungalows at a great price. We had a good lunch after arrived the resort site. After unpacked our luggage, we start our first tour the crocodile pond. Our tour guide, different person, explain the local natural habitat during our 40 minutes walk and point out some animal/insects as we come across them. Our guide continue to shows us his vast knowledge about the local habitat in the follow days of tour. The resort lobby and bongalow are styled in the old explorer days, simple but clean. The pool is open from 9am to 6 pm and the water is very cold, a nice welcome after a long day of tour. The daily lunch and dinner are local cuisine, but you do get western style breakfast (egg, pond cake, ham, etc). The only complaint I have is that the juice they serve is at room temperature (freshly squeezed) and so it take some used to in the hot weather. Because we are in the middle of jungle, we only have electricity in the room from 5 to 5:30 AM, and 6 pm to 10 pm daily. No wifi. It is a good experience to return to a simpler life. Overall, it is a great experience and we gain a much appreciation of the Amazon ecosystem. Words of advise: bring strong bug repellent, strong sun tan lotion, hiking pants, hat, sunglasses, camera with extra batteries, binoculars, and some prepacked snake for the trail tour.
