Disappointing
The boat was very tatty and had clearly seen better days. Young children refused to sit down when told to and drowned out the commentary. Weather was awful but nobody's fault. That's Ireland for you!

Fine for a chill day
Quick boat ride around the lake. It’s very quiet and chill. It would not be very good for little kids. There isn’t anything to do. The commentary was good and informative but I don’t know if it’s worth the time.

One hour lake cruise
The one hour on the lake is on an enclosed single level cruise ferry with sliding windows and an open aft. The captain is the only crew member and gives a very informative commentary as we sail at a leisurely pace around the upper and middle lakes. Fabulous views and good ramp access. Goes on the hour from next to the castle.

Informative boat tour
Nice trip around Muckross Lake from Ross Castle. We set sail on a very sunny afternoon. Captain told informative stories about the sites. Weather was beautiful and water was calm. Highly recommend for families.

Actually we arrived a...
Actually we arrived a minute late and missed the boat. Wanted to cancel after few mins of booking it, as I turned on navigation and it was showing a road work, but they wouldn’t allow us to do with a full refund. They were offering us a 0 refund value. As there was a road work going on the way to the place. Total loss of money. Don’t book it rather go there and get a private small boat and in cheaper price.

Lucky enough to see a sea eagle!
The boat leaves from the Ross Castle Pier, literally 8 minutes from the centre of Killarney. Lovely views. We were lucky enough to see a white tailed sea eagle!

We may have had a unique...
We may have had a unique tour because of low water levels, but we were hopeful to see the whole lake and only got to see a small part of it for an hour. If you are looking to see more, including getting off at the small islands, then I'd go with other local companies with smaller boats. We were admittedly a bit disappointed that we saw so little. Nice boat and friendly staff though!

Hi Brittany, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Yes, we don't land on the island, it is only the smaller open boats that can land due to infrastructure on the island. We sail within a certain area of the lake to ensure there is no disturbance to the flora and fauna in the National Park. As advertised, ours is a Lake Cruise, no landing tour.

Nice scenic trip around the lake
Lovely trip around the lake. Brian and Frank were very friendly, especially with our 2 small children. Enjoyed hearing about the history and the landmarks.

A family trip on the lakes
Just back from a family hoilday in kilarney & we booked the lake cruise as something to do on our hoilday our driver stered the course with commentary about the islands on the lakes & some facts about Kilarney with some humor to boot. Our 14yr daughter also got to ster the boat.
