Start on the water
The short boat out to the Bourtzi is five minutes and makes the whole town make sense from the sea.
Beach in the afternoon
Karathona is a flat cycle or short drive away, shallow and sandy; Arvanitia is closer but pebbled.
One ancient site, not three
Mycenae with its Lion Gate and beehive tomb holds children’s attention far better than a museum. Go early.
